About the doula...
Nickel City Doula was created by Amy Buzzell, a passionate, young birth professional and Buffalo area doula, who has a strong desire in supporting birthing families. This will be her fourth year attending births as a certified birth doula.
Amy moved to Buffalo from New Haven, Connecticut in 2010.
In 2014 She became certified in the art of placenta encapsulation through IPPA, specializing in watercolor art. She is certified for birth and bereavement through Still Birth Day, she gained this important credential in Spring of 2016 to better serve her community.
She will be offering Childbirth education in fall of 2017.
Amy founded, organizes and hosts the annual Nickel City Doula's Diaper Drive in Kenmore, New York.
In 2016 she rallied her community together to raise close to 10,000 diapers and wipes for local area shelters and organizations in need.
Amy founded Birth Wise Doula in 2014, and decided on a name change to Nickel City Doula in 2016. She is currently expanding her services to include, placenta, ash, and breast milk keepsake jewelry. She loves family time with her three sons, hiking, attending workshops, rallies, and empowering women to take control of their place in the birthing space. She primarily works in Buffalo New York, helping families learn about their options for birth.
